The Global 8000 will be the fastest and longest-range business jet in the world.

Bombardier has unveiled its new Global 8000 business jet capable of reaching top speeds of Mach 0.94. The long-range aircraft, which can travel up to 8,000 nautical miles, will be the world's fastest business jet and the quickest aircraft in civil aviation since Concorde.

Canadian aerospace company Bombardier has introduced its new Global 8000 jet, which it claims is "the world’s fastest and longest-range purpose-built business jet."

The company unveiled the ultra-long-range plane at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) this week.

Éric Martel, Bombardier’s President and Chief Executive Officer, said,

"Today, Bombardier solidifies once more its position as the leader in business aviation with the newest member of the industry-leading Global family. The Global 8000 aircraft leverages the outstanding attributes of the Global 7500 aircraft, providing our customers with a flagship aircraft of a new era. We remain unmatched, which for an innovation-focused team like us, is great."

The jet's maximum Mach operating speed is 0.94 Mach (1,000 KM/h), can seat up to 19 passengers, and has a list price of $78 million.

The four-zone cabin Global 8000, initially earmarked for a 2017 debut, is now expected to enter service in 2025.

Bombardier notes that, with the increased range, more city pairings are now achievable, such as Dubai-Houston, Singapore-Los Angeles, and London-Perth.

Initial plans for the Global 8000 involved shrinking the airframe by 2.6m (8.5ft) compared to its 33.8-meter Global 7000 (now the 7500) counterpart.

However, the company altered its plans after Gulfstream introduced its 8,000NM G800, which is expected to debut in 2023.

Instead, Bombardier has maintained the same cabin length as the 7500 but added to its performance. The 8000 will be 33.8m long with a useable cabin space of 16.59m. In contrast, Gulfstream's G800 is 30.4m long with 14.27m of cabin space.

Notably, Global 7500 owners will be able to convert their jets into the Global 8000 once it enters into service in 2025, thanks to a service bulletin.

While the Global 8000's top operating speed is Mach 0.94, it has broken the sound barrier during flight tests. In May 2021, the jet repeatedly achieved speeds of Mach 1.015, accompanied by a NASA-operated Boeing F-18 fighter.

During demonstration flights, the Global 8000 also became the first Transport Category airplane to fly supersonically powered by sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).

The Global 7500 has a top speed of Mach 0.925, equal to the upcoming Gulfstream G800. Bombardier's Global 8000 can now stake its claim as the fastest business jet on the market.
